FTS safety are pleased to be supporting the development of the Association for Professional Appliance Testing which is the only association dedicated to the promotion and support of professional appliance testing ...
this is probably one of the most terrifying things I've ever seen in a plug!
It's always interesting to get feedback from people who work in organisations large and small who have a need for the services of a professional PAT Tester, so the Association would love to hear your thoughts and questions.
Do you understand the legislation and your legal requirements?
How often do you get your equipment PAT tested?
Are you happy with the service your PAT testing company provided?
Did they find anything you didn't expect?
Did they explain the dangers of what they found?
How did you make initial contact your PAT Tester?
Are there any suggestions you could make to improve services?
The reason we PAT Test is shown in the image above which may not have been found unless every plug and fuse was checked. Unfortunately some unapproved companies fail to check the fuses to speed up the certification process for busy clients.
This week I found a hand blender in an industrial kitchen which had a 13amp fuse in it, but unless you understand the relevance of the ratings then the appliance should only have a 3amp fuse in. These common mistakes are highly dangerous!
